The Blankie and The Lamp. (9/1/2018)

And just like that, it’s September 1. It’s been an amazing summer, so I’m especially bummed to see it end.

Today we called AAA (again) for my car, which (again) wouldn’t start. This time, however, it was conveniently located in our garage. The problem was my battery after all, which was a somewhat quick fix. Fingers crossed for no more car problems for a while. I’m still striving for the 200,000 mark.

Arabella tried some more cereal with peanut butter today. She still wasn’t very interested, but Baxter made sure the leftovers didn’t go to waste. He is no doubt more excited about this solid foods thing than she is.

At one of Arabella’s first pediatrician appointments, her doctor suggested buying a large mirror to use during tummy time. (Those long full length mirrors you probably had in your dorm room). I finally picked one up this week thanks to it being strategically placed in the middle of the aisle at Target as part of a back to school display. I put Arabella in front of it during tummy time today and- wow! She had the best time smiling at herself and trying to reach out and touch the baby in the mirror. The laughs and coos were priceless. So cute!

We stayed in tonight, which gave me some time to sort through Arabella’s clothing. She’s pretty much out of anything below 3-6 months at this point– and 3-6 just fits. I also unpacked her Eiffel Tower lamp. Jarmon declared the overpriced light fixture from Pottery Barn Kids a must-have for her nursery— and we’ve gone through great lengths to get it (backordered, damaged, backordered again, lost in the store)— but seeing the little landmark all lit up in her room tonight makes it all worth it.

Speaking of Pottery Barn Kids, they have the BEST baby blankets. Beautiful, good quality and great texture– which is why we have so many of them. (Gifts, too good to pass up sale purchases, etc). We love every one of them. You would think one of those would be her favorite, right? Nope. It appears this (also adorable) blanket purchased at Walmart is the current front runner for the coveted “blankie” status. Go figure. She may look like her father, but she seems to be inheriting her mother’s frugal ways.
