All good things must come to an end. Today was the last day of Arabella’s first vacation. We started the day out with breakfast at the Naked Crab (brave yes, but a manager Jarmon and I befriended gave us free breakfast vouchers so we gave it a go). Jarmon, DD and I had the buffet— mom had some pastries. Nothing to write home about, but it wasn’t raw or served on salt which made for a marked improvement.

Jarmon and I made our way back to the room to pack while DD and MJ went to the beach with Arabella. They got a cabana in the sand, so Arabella would have shade– the pool was a bit chaotic since it was Saturday. Jarmon and I moved our bags to DD and MJ’s room and headed to the beach. It was Arabella’s first time in the sand. It was also her first time in the ocean. When we went to dip her feet, Jarmon got a Charlie horse in his leg and almost dropped her in the water– almost. Her reaction to both sand and sea was about the same as the pool— unimpressed.

Jarmon, DD and I spent some quality time in the pool but had to cut it short because of the approaching weather situation. We then began scurrying around the property taking all of the last minute photos I had been scheming over the previous week. These were mainly recreations of childhood photos that I’ll share in a later post. One of the many joys of vacationing in the same place year after year.

We also had to hurry and take our annual Wreck Bar photos. I don’t care how old I get, these will never get old. And now that I have a scuba diving husband, we can get creative with the photos. The ability to shoot endless erasable images on a digital camera helps too in the quest for the perfect photo.

When the rain finally chased us inside, we sat in the lobby and had beers while we swapped vacation photos. Then it was up to DD and MJ’s room to shower and head to the airport.
I had one last vacation mission to complete– buying Arabella a stuffed animal at the airport. We picked out a flamingo and named it Phillip. She played with Phillip the whole way home.
