Vacation Day 7 (8/10/2018): Happy Birthday Daddy Don

My least favorite part of vacation isn’t leaving– by that point I’ve properly mourned and accepted my departure. My least favorite part of vacation is the day prior to departure when home and the real world suddenly loom before me. Not only am I sad about leaving, but I also have to watch happy and excited arrivals. Don’t get me wrong- thrilled and happy for those people, just wish I was arriving again too.

Last night Arabella spent her first night away from us (except for that night at the hospital when we were sleep-deprived and sent her to the nursery, ha!). She slept like a champ for DD and MJ– until 9:30am. I’m pretty sure MJ was disappointed about it. Jarmon and I slept in too. We met DD and MJ for coffee at about 11am.

The pool weather wasn’t great today. We had a big storm at about 1– then another at about 5. We ran inside for the 1p storm. At 5, we decided to call it a day. I watched the storm for a bit from the hallway window.

We took Arabella in the water again. She is coming around. We also had a bit of a poop situation in one of the swimsuits with a diaper attached that required a wardrobe change.

For lunch I had French fries- surprise surprise. Jarmon had a chicken sandwich. DD had a fish sandwich. MJ had a hot dog.

Tonight we went to Shooters for DD’s birthday. We started with a seafood tower that was the most amazing Jarmon or I had ever seen… and we’ve had our fair share of towers. Lobster, king crab, shrimp and oysters… oh my! It was spectacular in every way. In fact, it was so large that DD canceled his entree. Jarmon had a pasta dish, MJ had ribs and I had a Szechuan shrimp salad- it was delicious. At the end of dinner the waitress brought a small piece of chocolate cake with a candle for dessert. Arabella must have known it was a celebration because she woke up and stayed awake for the party. It made DD’s night.. and also made for some more adorable photos.

We came back to the hotel and I began to pack up. I’m not one to pack before absolutely necessary, but traveling with a kid involves a bit more organization.

So tomorrow is our final day. Vacation always goes fast, but this one went even faster than usual. Tomorrow we will hopefully get in some pool time, take Arabella to the beach and take our annual Wreck Bar window photos. There was some more souvenir shopping I wanted to do, but doesn’t seem like that will happen. I guess what we have will have to do- my overcrowded house will thank me!
